How do I keep track of rent, bills, passport and visa expiry dates?

These deadlines don't auto-charge you — nobody bills your card when a passport expires. The cost shows up later: a late fee, a rejected application, a trip you can't take.

• A calendar entry per deadline. Works, as long as you set it far enough in advance and actually check your calendar that week.
